Molo Faro Verde is a predominantly pebble beach in Arenzano, Liguria, featuring artificial structures perpendicular to the shore. The area is characterized by a mix of private beach establishments with services and free beach access, along with accommodation facilities and restaurants. A seafront promenade, municipal park, and parking are located inland from the beach.

Water Quality

Classification for 2020–2023 four-year period: GOOD. The Arenzano coastal treatment plant is located approximately 260 m south of the monitoring station, outside the western boundary of the bathing water area near the port zone. Sewer pipes pass outside the western boundary and discharge offshore.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events possible due to increased water flow in streams caused by heavy precipitation, potentially transporting wastewater downstream. The Rio delle Piane estuary discharges into the bathing water area. Ostreopsis ovata microalgae blooms have occurred in the region; exceedances of the 30,000 cells/litre limit were recorded at the reference station (CREV Genova Voltri) in July 2022 and 2023. Inhalation of aerosol from Ostreopsis ovata can cause temporary and reversible respiratory symptoms and fever in sensitive individuals.
