Momena is a bathing water area located along the Calabrian coast near Rossano. The beach features sandy-pebble composition with a gentle seabed slope of 2.5% from the shoreline to a depth of 5 metres. Single bars or cordons are present in the geomorphological structure. The area faces agricultural territories to the east of Fosso del Pantano.

Coastal waters. Beach area extends 0.661 square kilometres. Seabed slope averages 2.5% from shoreline to 5-metre depth. Sediment granulometry is medium grain (2 to 0.062 mm). Watercourses include Fosso del Pantano and Torrente del Fico.

Location

Rossano, Province of Cosenza, Calabria region. The bathing area is located in front of agricultural territories east of Fosso del Pantano.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The sea and internal waters are not affected by algal blooms or cyanobacterial growth.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events may occur from runoff sourced in agricultural areas and urban areas through Fosso del Pantano and Torrente del Fico outlets. No anomalous situations have been verified. No cyanobacterial or algal bloom events recorded in the past four years.
