MUSA S. Elia is a sandy and pebbly beach located along an articulated coastline in the Calabria region. The bathing water is classified as excellent quality. The beach is situated in an area facing the inhabited centre of Saline Joniche, east of the port.

Coastal water body. Beach area extends 1,757 square metres. The water body is named Motta S. Giovanni - San Lorenzo. The Fiumara S. Elia watercourse flows into this bathing area.

Location

Montebello Jonico, Reggio Calabria Province, Calabria region. Located east of the port, facing the Saline Joniche inhabited centre.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent. Wastewater treatment is managed by the Melito Porto Salvo purification plant.

Risks

Potential pollution source identified at the mouth of Fiumara S. Elia. Past short-term pollution events have been caused by accidental treatment plant malfunction and overflow from the Melito Porto Salvo purification plant. No anomalous situations or harmful algal proliferation events have occurred in the past four years.
