Location

Located in Montebello Jonico, Reggio Calabria province, Calabria region, in the area facing the Saline settlement along the Joniche coast. The water body is part of the Motta S. Giovanni - San Lorenzo coastal area.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent quality. Monitoring conducted as of 01/11 with updates as of 12. Wastewater treatment provided by the Montebello Jonico treatment plant. No specific mitigation measures are currently active.

Risks

Short-term pollution event identified: accidental treatment plant failure with overflow from the Montebello Jonico treatment plant. Pollution source identified at the mouth of Fosso Pulica. No anomalous situations verified in the past 4 years. No algal proliferation events verified in the past 4 years.
