The former quarry lake covers just under 9 hectares and is unusually shallow with a maximum depth of 2.50 metres. The northern part of the lake is protected as a natural monument. The southern section of the lake, beyond the pedestrian bridge, is publicly accessible during the day and used by visitors during the summer months for recreation and bathing as part of common use. On weekends, a raised flag signals the presence of DLRG (German Life Saving Association) services.
