Nordseestrand Upleward is a bathing beach located in the municipality of Krummhörn, extending approximately 250 metres along the coast of the Ems-Dollart region. Concrete stairs have been installed at the reinforced coastal edge to facilitate entry into the sea. Due to tidal influences, a natural sand beach cannot be maintained at this location. In 2000, the municipality of Krummhörn opened the world's first dry beach adjacent to the bathing beach in the Krummhörn-Greetsiel holiday region.
