Agay beach is a 800-meter sandy beach located in the Agay district of Saint-Raphaël, with a maximum width of 30 meters. The beach opens to the Mediterranean Sea in a south-facing orientation and is situated below Boulevard de la plage (also known as RD 559). The bathing zone covers approximately 6,614 square meters and is an open configuration with east-to-west water circulation that enables faster water renewal. The beach is clear seawater with no special structures and is equipped with public facilities. It is a heavily frequented public beach with numerous nearby tourist attractions including camping, restaurants, and water sports activities.

Water

Mediterranean Sea. Beach area of 24,000 square meters with a total length of 800 meters and maximum width of 30 meters. Sandy composition. Bathymetry is irregular. Near-shore currents are mostly weak with velocities typically below 0.12 m/s, increasing to 0.4 m/s maximum during storm waves. Water renewal times range from approximately 3 hours with 8 m/s wind to 12 hours with 2 m/s wind. An east-west littoral current has been documented.

Agay district, Saint-Raphaël, Var, France. Access via Boulevard de la plage (RD 559). Paid parking available on the road. GPS coordinates: 43° 26.023' N and 6° 51.401' E.

Facilities

One accessible toilet (PMR UFR). Four showers, two of which are accessible (PMR UFR). Lifeguard posts at Mairie (04 94 82 05 98) and Lido (04 94 82 78 95). Maritime marking of the bathing zone.

Water Quality

Bathing water classified as 'EXCELLENT' by the ARS (French regional health authority). No particular pollution identified. Monitoring point identified by the Draguignan Laboratory under reference number 2759.

Risks

Seven stormwater outlets discharge directly or near the bathing zone. The Agay River outlet discharges to the west of the beach and drains a 54 km² watershed with topography prone to flooding. Risk of contamination from stormwater runoff during rainfall events.
