The monitoring program is conducted according to French public health code requirements transposing the European Directive 2006/7/CE.

Potential pollution sources identified in the study area include domestic wastewater, stormwater and runoff, and diffuse pollution sources. Assessment of algae and cyanobacteria proliferation potential was conducted.
