The Bordelan bathing lake is a 10.4-hectare recreational water body located south of Villefranche-sur-Saône in the Rhône department, created in 1976 from an aggregate quarry excavation on the right bank of the Saône River. The bathing zone occupies the northern part of the lake and is officially operated as a public swimming facility with paid summer access and lifeguard supervision until 19:00 each day. The bathing area extends 70–100 meters wide and 37 meters long, with a maximum depth of 1.7 meters and an average depth of 1.2 meters, covering approximately 0.34 hectares. The site features an artificial sandy beach with grass and trees in the surrounding area, and a separate fishermen's path along the rest of the shoreline. Water quality is classified as good (Class A), with no major contamination sources identified.
