Chemille-sur-Indrois is a bathing water site located on a lake fed directly by the Indrois river in Indre-et-Loire, France. The bathing zone is situated on the left bank of the water body. Water

Lake fed directly by the Indrois river. The Indrois is located 890 metres upstream of the bathing zone. The Olivet, a tributary of the Indrois, joins at approximately 1.5 kilometres upstream with a mean annual flow of 0.37 cubic metres per second.

Location

Commune of Chemille-sur-Indrois in Indre-et-Loire, France. The site is administered by the Communauté de Communes Loches Sud Touraine. The bathing zone is located on the left bank of the lake, downstream from the town of Chemille-sur-Indrois.

Water Quality

Water quality is directly dependent on the Indrois river. As of 2015, the Indrois at Genille has good ecological status according to the IBGN index, with mean physicochemical state, and targets good ecological status by 2021. Identified pollution sources include direct discharge from the Indrois, overflow from sewage pumping stations, storm water runoff from the town of Chemille-sur-Indrois, and upstream wastewater treatment stations at Beaumont-Village and Montresor.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include overflow from sewage pumping stations (particularly at Lotissement des Baudichonnières and Ateliers municipaux), storm water discharge from the town and surrounding areas, and the Indrois river itself. The network of sewage infrastructure has experienced some malfunctions. The old Baudichonnières residential area network contains significant parasitic water infiltration.
