Location

Located in Ponteceso, A Coruña province, Galicia, Spain. The reference locality is O Porto de Corme. UTM coordinates: X 503376, Y 4790486 (European Datum 1950, UTM 29N).

Water Quality

Water classified as excellent quality. E. coli and enterococcus concentrations monitored from 2008 to 2010 showed levels consistent with excellent classification. The water mass (Costa da Morte) has good ecological status. Historical records indicate the beach was classified as insufficient for at least 1 year prior to 2011.

Risks

Risk of short-term contamination from occasional discharges associated with high-precipitation episodes (yellow alert level). Adjacent shellfish production zone GAL 06/03 (Ría de Corme-Laxe) classified as Zone B with no previous contamination history.
