The beach is located in the locality of Bañugues, municipality of Gozón, Asturias, Spain. It is situated near the urban nucleus of Bañugues. Parking is available with more than 100 spaces accessible by road.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as good from 2013 to 2016 and insufficient in 2017. Sanitary quality monitoring at sampling point PM1 showed good quality until 2017, when it declined to insufficient. The contamination risk is classified as moderate. Primary pollution sources include failures in municipal sewerage networks that discharge into the Llantada stream and a small wastewater treatment plant located adjacent to the beach.

Risks

Moderate risk of short-duration contamination episodes from sewerage failures and wastewater treatment plant malfunctions. Low risk of jellyfish proliferation, though four documented incidents of Portuguese man o'war sightings occurred in August 2010 and August 2008. The zone is not prone to harmful algal blooms. No significant macroalgae proliferation risk exists.
