Cala Millor is a sandy beach located in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar on Mallorca, featuring white sand of medium to coarse grain. The beach stretches 1,535.73 metres along the coast with a maximum width of 52 metres and a slope of 5.5–6%. It is situated in a large residential area bordered on the right by Punta de n'Amer, a natural area classified as a Site of Community Importance (LIC) and part of Natura 2000. The beach is surrounded by a promenade with apartments, hotels, and restaurants behind it.

Water

Coastal water body with sandy and Posidonia oceanica seagrass bed substrates. Maximum depth 3 metres. Coastal water mass MA-09/CW-M3 in the Balearic Islands hydrographic district. Sand composition is predominantly medium sand (48.04%) and coarse sand (20.56%), with smaller percentages of gravel, very coarse sand, fine sand, and silt.

Location

Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Mallorca. Bounded on the right by Punta de n'Amer and on the left by the beach of the same name in Son Servera municipality. Multiple pedestrian and vehicle access points from the surrounding promenade.

Facilities

Lifeguard tower staffed during bathing season. Lifeguards present during bathing season. Safety information panels. Sea condition flags during bathing season. Buoys during bathing season. Waste bins with 250 cc capacity. High availability of umbrellas and sun loungers. Watersports facilities including 26 sailboats, jet ski circuit, 10 non-motorised watercraft, diving school, water-skiing school, 20 jet skis, and 2 beach volleyball courts. No public toilets or showers. Beach cleaning carried out seven days a week during bathing season with sand sieving and manual cleaning; manual cleaning only in low season. Posidonia oceanica banks removed during bathing season. No domestic animals permitted during bathing season.

1 May to 30 October.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent (EX) for all years from 1999 to 2008. No analytical results exceeded established values from 2001 to 2008. No growth of macrophytes indicating pollution or phytoplankton proliferation observed. Coastal water mass ecological and chemical status rated as very good according to MEDOCC, CARLIT, and Posidonia oceanica indicators (2005–2006).

Risks

Two wastewater pumping stations located near the beach; these lack emergency discharge pipes and could overflow into the beach area in case of breakdown or saturation, classified as medium risk. Torrents and urban stormwater collection systems converge on the beach and could transport significant quantities of water and sediment during heavy rainfall. Urban runoff and debris from waterfront bar and restaurant terraces near the coast. Urban land use at 64.98% of the 200 metre terrestrial band adjacent to the beach creates multiple potential discharge points.
