Playa de Calnegre is a natural sandy beach in the Mediterranean Sea near Lorca, Spain. The beach stretches 500 metres in length with an average width of 35 metres and features golden sand. Water quality has been consistently rated as excellent from 2000 to 2011. The beach experiences medium occupancy with occasional recreational use and can accommodate approximately 1,900 swimmers.

Location

Lorca, Spain. Coordinates: UTM 640110.67 (X), 4152477.56 (Y); latitude 37.506763°, longitude -1.416029°, zone 30N. The beach is located in an isolated area with no promenade.

Water Quality

Water quality rated as excellent from 2000 to 2011. The water body is part of the 'Puntas de Calnegre-Punta Parda' coastal mass with good ecological status. No significant pollution pressure. No authorized discharges in the proximate area.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation risk is null or very low. Jellyfish appear seasonally with peak abundance from early spring to late summer. Short-duration episodes are unlikely.
