Playa Charco del Conde is a coastal bathing beach located in Valle Gran Rey on the island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands, Spain. The beach has fine sand substrate and is exposed to wave action with calm water conditions. The water body is a natural coastal surface water mass classified as being in good ecological state. The beach features pedestrian access in good condition and vehicle access in poor condition.

Natural coastal surface water body. Bathymetry: 0 to -8 meters. Wave regime: calm waters. Tidal range: 1–3 meters. Substrate: fine sand. Water mass classification: ES70LGTV - Corralito – Punta Calera (superficial coastal) and ES70LG005 - Valle Gran Rey aquifer (groundwater).

Location

Valle Gran Rey municipality, La Gomera island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife province, Canary Islands, Spain. The beach is located at Charco del Conde. Parking is available in good condition. Vehicle access is available but in poor condition.

Facilities

Pedestrian access (good), vehicle access (poor), promenade, disabled access (poor), parking (good). Information on showers, foot-washing stations, changing rooms, public services, bars, sanitary attention, doctors, lifeguards, and other amenities was not reported.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is based on evaluation of faecal contamination indicators (Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci) collected over four years in accordance with Royal Decree 1341/2007. The coastal water mass ES70LGTV - Corralito – Punta Calera is in good ecological state with good or better overall status. Monitoring period: 1 February to 30 November.

Risks

Diffuse pollution sources: sports marina and fishing port at Vueltas. Point pollution sources: submarine outfall from Valle Gran Rey wastewater treatment plant (EDAR), wastewater treatment plants (EBAR), swimming pool saltwater discharges, EBAR 2 overflow, and Condesa EBAR. Watercourse: Barranco del Valle Gran Rey. Potential contamination episodes from stormwater runoff, raw or treated urban wastewater, fishing activity, and accidental hydrocarbon spills, with expected durations under 48–72 hours. Cyanobacteria proliferation (Trichodesmium) occurred in 2004, 2010, and intensely in 2017. No risk from jellyfish, sea urchins, or macroalgae.
