Playa Inglés is a coastal bathing area located on the island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands, Spain. The beach measures 200 metres in length and 20 metres in width, with fine dark sand and rocky substrate. The water body is a natural coastal surface water mass with shallow depths ranging from 0 to 9 metres, moderate wave conditions, and protection from wave exposure. Water Quality

Water quality classification is based on four-year analytical evaluation of fecal contamination indicators: Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci, conducted according to RD 1341/2007. The coastal water mass maintains good or better ecological status (biological and physicochemical).

Risks

Potential short-duration pollution episodes: rainfall runoff carrying possible contaminants from upstream sources (sporadic, less than 72 hours); raw or treated urban wastewater from pipeline breaks, sewerage network failure, emergency overflow, or unauthorized discharge (unpredictable, less than 72 hours). Four identified pollution sources: submarine outfall from Valle Gran Rey wastewater treatment plant, saltwater pool discharges, EBAR 2 relief system, and EBAR system. Episodic cyanobacteria blooms (Trichodesmium) observed in 2004, 2010, and 2017. No risk from jellyfish, sea urchins, or macroalgae.
