Water

Coastal marine water body, 210 meters long and 27–30 meters wide. Macrotidal environment with tidal range exceeding 4 meters. Water renewal time is less than 7 days. Mean wind speed is 5.24 m/s with current direction northwest. Wave conditions are strong.

Location

Located in Linares, municipality of Castrillón, province of Asturias, Spain. The beach is accessible on foot and by road, with parking available for over 100 vehicles.

Facilities

Lifeguard services, toilets, showers, good pedestrian access, road access with parking for over 100 vehicles.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent for bathing. Microbiological analysis at sampling point PM1 shows excellent sanitary quality. The main contamination source is Arroyo Fontanilla O Pisiego, which introduces organic matter and fecal bacteria through runoff, seepage, and possible sanitation system failures. Overall contamination risk is low despite historical episodes of short-duration contamination in 2017.

Risks

Arroyo Fontanilla O Pisiego presents a diffuse pollution source capable of causing short-duration contamination episodes with increased fecal bacteria and turbidity. The beach may experience occasional jellyfish presence during spring-summer months, though typically at natural densities for the Cantabrian Sea. Jellyfish species include Portuguese Man o' War, Velella, Sea Carnation, and Moon Jellyfish. Risk of microalgae and cyanobacteria proliferation is null. Macroalgae proliferation risk is low, associated with natural meteorological phenomena.
