Playa de la Alcudia is a maritime bathing zone located in Nules, Castellón, in the Valencian Community of Spain. The beach has an irregular open configuration with perpendicular breakwaters as defensive structures and no seafront promenade. The beach stretches 671 meters along the high tide line with an average width of 37.6 meters, composed of sand and stone. The shoreline is classified as low-accumulation coast with a microidal tidal range and currents flowing from south to north.

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on Real Decreto 1341/2007. The water body has good status under the Water Framework Directive. Weekly inspections are conducted during the bathing season assessing visual inspection parameters, sand cleanliness, access conditions, and service functionality. No direct discharges to the shoreline affect water quality. Evaluation of contamination risk factors: rainfall (low frequency, slight impact), urban sanitation (low frequency, slight impact), coastal discharges (low frequency, slight impact), rivers/channels (low frequency, slight impact), industrial installations (low frequency, slight impact), port installations (low frequency, slight impact), diffuse pollution (low frequency, slight impact).

Risks

No direct sewage connections or natural geographical accidents such as ravines or streams that could transport rainwater runoff to the coast. No significant risk from cyanobacteria, which are associated with confined freshwater with high nutrient content and do not typically occur in coastal waters. Phytoplankton proliferations are monitored through control networks but are natural phenomena occurring more frequently in areas with low water renewal.
