Playa de la Almadrava is a bathing beach located in Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain. It is a closed cove configuration with perpendicular breakwaters as defensive structures. The beach is bounded to the north by Cabo de las Huertas and to the south by Playa de l'Albufereta. The shoreline extends 473.7 metres with a mean width of 40.8 metres and a rock-sand composition. The beach has an artificial origin and is situated in an urban area along a low-accumulation coastline with microtidal range.

Water Quality

Water quality classification recorded for the bathing season 2020–2023. The water body (coastal waters, CW typology 5) has been classified as having poor status. Weekly inspections during the bathing season assess visual inspection parameters and evaluate water quality, water appearance, and sand cleanliness. No direct discharge points to the shoreline affect beach water quality. Urban wastewater sanitation system includes two treatment plants serving the municipality: EDAR Alacant-Rincón de León (75,000 m³/d project capacity) and EDAR Alacant-Monte Orgegia (60,000 m³/d project capacity), with effluent discharged via submarine outfalls.

Risks

Short-duration contamination risk factors are present at low frequency with mild impact: rainfall, urban sanitation, and coastal discharges. The Júcar hydrographic district experiences its wettest month in April and driest in July, with annual precipitation of 246 millimetres.
