Playa de la Ampolla is a bathing beach located in the municipality of Teulada-Moraira in Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain. It is a closed cove beach with an artificial sandy composition and a rigid maritime promenade. The beach has a high-energy user density during bathing season and is bordered to the north by Playa El Portet and to the south by Playa Les Platgetes.

Water

Maritime bathing water. Beach length of 240.8 m along the high-tide line, average width of 37.6 m. Low-accumulation sandy coast with microtidal range. Current flows from south to north. Located in the Júcar hydrographic district, classified as coastal water body category. Annual precipitation in the zone is 246 mm.

Location

Teulada-Moraira municipality, Alicante province. Parking is available. The beach has accessible entry points for people with disabilities and an accessible service point.

Lifeguards and rescue services available. Free public toilets. Foot showers and water rinsing areas. Rubbish bins with selective waste collection. Buoys for marking. Beach bar/chiringuito. Water activities including scooter rental, sunbed rental, umbrella rental, and water park. Accessible parking. Accessible entry points.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent in recent years (2020–2023 monitoring). State of water body is very good. Weekly inspections conducted during bathing season assess visual inspection parameters and water quality aspects. Management follows Royal Decree 1341/2007 transposing EU Directive 2006/7/CE.

Risks

A natural ravine on the north side of l'Ampolla represents medium-high risk with continuous discharge and mixed origin. Short-duration contamination risk factors (rainfall, urban sewerage, coastal discharges) assessed as low frequency with mild effects. No cyanobacteria proliferation detected on the Valencian coast.
