Platgetes Beach is located in the municipality of Teulada-Moraira in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain. It is an open cove configuration beach with no defensive structures and features a rigid maritime promenade. The beach is bordered to the north by L'Arenal Beach and to the south by L'Andragó Beach. The beach has a high shoreline (264 m) with an average width of 20.9 m and a composition of rocks and sand. It is situated in an urban zone with a microtidal range.

Location

Teulada-Moraira municipality, province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain. The beach is accessible by car with parking available. Disabled access is provided.

Facilities

Lifeguards (rescue and first aid services), free public toilets, foot showers, waste bins and selective waste collection, buoys/markers. Umbrella and lounger rentals and kayak rentals available. Disabled access is provided. No accessible point service. No bar or beach kiosk.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). Monitoring is conducted weekly during the bathing season. The coastal water mass has a status of 'very good' according to the Water Framework Directive. No direct discharges to the shoreline affect water quality. Potential contamination factors (rainfall, urban sanitation, coastal discharges) are present at low frequency with slight impact.

Risks

Potential short-duration contamination factors from rainfall (low frequency, slight impact), urban sanitation systems (low frequency, slight impact), and coastal discharges (low frequency, slight impact). Rivers or channels, industrial facilities, port installations, and diffuse pollution present at low frequency with slight impact. Natural proliferation of jellyfish and phytoplankton possible due to coastal geomorphology and climatic conditions. No cyanobacteria proliferation has been detected in the Valencian Community's coastal waters.
