Water

Coastal water body in the Guadalete–Barbate hydrographic area, Atlantic Ocean. The water mass is highly modified due to port presence with high renewal rate. Bathymetry is shallow. Substrate consists of sand, rocks, and mud. Mesomareal tidal range of 2–4 metres. Dominant currents flow towards the south, south-southeast, and southeast. Dominant wave regime from the west and secondarily from the southeast. Wave exposure is moderate.

Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation. Diffuse pollution source from land use, constructed surfaces, and altered areas in the influence zone. Point pollution source from Las Galeras wastewater treatment plant (CA601).
