Platja de Lluminetes is an open beach located in the semi-urban municipality of Castelldefels in Barcelona province, Spain. The beach has an average width of 111 metres, a length of 853 metres, and a surface area of 94,683 square metres. It features fine sand with a strong water entry slope and experiences high summer occupancy. The beach is situated in a Mediterranean coastal environment between Platja de la Pineda to the northeast and Platja del Baixador to the southwest.

Mediterranean Sea. The bathing area belongs to water mass C22 (El Prat de Llobregat - Castelldefels), a sandy shallow type with moderate continental influence. Mean salinity ranges from 37.1 to 38.5 psu. Water temperatures vary seasonally: June 21.2°C, July 24.9°C, August 25.7°C, September 24.3°C. Significant wave height averages 0.74 metres with a mean period of 6 seconds. Prevailing winds are southwest and weak. General circulation follows a cyclonic pattern with parallel coastal currents.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored biweekly from June to September by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) according to EU Directive 2006/7/CE. Microbiological quality is determined through analysis of Escherichia coli and intestinal Enterococcus. Classifications are categorised as Excellent, Good (suitable for bathing) or Insufficient (unsuitable for bathing) on a temporary basis, and Excellent, Good, Sufficient or Insufficient on an annual basis using four years of analytical data.

Risks

During rainfall events, natural watercourses distributed along the municipality's beaches may discharge freshwater into bathing zones. The area has a high Hydrological Response Velocity Index (VRH), indicating susceptibility to rapid hydrological changes during heavy precipitation. Temporary water quality advisories are issued during such episodes.
