Playa de les Marenys de Rafalcaid is a maritime bathing zone located in the municipality of Gandía, Valencia, Spain. The beach features a longitudinal open configuration with a sandy composition and is situated on a low-accumulation coast. It has no defence structures and no boardwalk. The beach is 827.5 metres long with an average width of 41.5 metres.

Water

Maritime bathing water situated in the Júcar River Basin. The water body is classified as Costera (Coastal) and is subject to micromareal tidal ranges. Water currents flow from south to north. The beach is located in an urban-agricultural land use zone.

Location

Located in the municipality of Gandía, province of Valencia, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain. The beach is bounded to the north by Gandía's port area and to the south by Playa de Daimuz. Parking is available. Access is available but not for people with disabilities.

Facilities

Lifeguard and rescue services available. Public free toilets provided. Showers available. Buoys and warning systems present. No accessible facilities point. No beach bar. Waste bins available. Low bather density during bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified and monitored under Royal Decree 1341/2007. Weekly inspections are conducted during the bathing season evaluating visual inspection parameters and overall beach conditions. Quality classification covers ratings of Excellent, Good, Sufficient, and Insufficient. The environmental control point is located 76 metres south of the Río Serpis discharge point.

Risks

Río Serpis discharges into the coast at the northern boundary with high-risk classification and seasonal frequency. Potential contamination factors from rainfall, urban sanitation, and coastal discharges are all classified as low frequency with mild impact. Rivers and canals, industrial installations, port facilities, and diffuse pollution are identified as potential risk factors with low frequency and mild impact.
