Playa de Daimuz is a maritime bathing zone located in the municipality of Daimús in Valencia province, Spain. The beach features a longitudinal open configuration with no defense structures and a rigid promenade. It has an average width of 48.3 meters and a shoreline length of 1,658.2 meters, composed of sand of artificial origin. The beach is situated on a low-accumulation coast with microtidal range and currents flowing from south to north.

Maritime bathing zone in a coastal water mass. The beach has an average width of 48.3 meters and a shoreline length of 1,658.2 meters. Water currents flow from south to north. The area experiences a microtidal range. The water body is classified as coastal under the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/CE) and has achieved good status.

Location

Daimuz municipality, Valencia province, Spain. The beach is bounded to the north by Marenys de Rafalcaid beach and to the south by Guardamar beach. Parking is not available at this location.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring results from 2020 to 2023. Monitoring point PM 1 is located at Frente Avenida del Mar. The beach's water quality is regulated under Royal Decree 1341/2007 (transposing Directive 2006/7/CE). No direct discharge into the coastal line affects water quality. The Gandía-La Safor wastewater treatment plant (EDAR) serves the municipality with secondary treatment plus chlorination, with an efficiency of 96% for suspended solids and BOD5, and 89% for COD. An underwater emission pipeline extends 2,115 meters offshore at a maximum depth of 16.9 meters.

Risks

Potential short-duration contamination factors identified with low frequency and minor effect: rainfall, urban sewerage, and coastal discharges. No cyanobacteria proliferation has been detected in the Valencia coast. Phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that may occur in low-renewal bathing zones. Jellyfish proliferation may occur naturally associated with coast geomorphology, climatic conditions, and high water temperatures.
