Location

Miengo, Cantabria. Accessible by car via road S-20. Parking available with 50 spaces. Urban bus transport is available. The nearest hospital is Valdecilla in Santander, 5 kilometres away.

Lifeguards, toilets, showers, public telephone, waste bins, beach cleaning equipment, Red Cross post, lifeboat equipment, maritime services, nautical club, maritime promenade.

Water Quality

Water classified as Good from 2005 to 2011 under relevant EU directives. Chlorophyll-a concentration in the Mogro estuary is below 5 µg/l. Phytoplankton density in Cantabrian estuaries is homogeneous and very low, below 5,000,000 cells/litre. Coastal water station shows chlorophyll-a concentration around 2.3 µg/l. Medium risk of non-compliance with Directive 2006/7/CE due to influence from various discharges.
