Playa de Terranova is a bathing beach located in the municipality of Oliva in the province of Valencia, Spain. The beach has a longitudinal open configuration with perpendicular breakwaters as defence structures and no seafront promenade. It is bordered to the north by Playa de Piles and to the south by Playa de Pau-Pi. The beach is classified as having good water quality and is monitored weekly during the official bathing season.

Marine bathing zone. Shoreline length 1,738.8 m, average width 42.1 m. Sandy composition of artificial origin. Low-accumulation coastal type. Micromareal tidal range. Current direction runs south to north. Located in the coastal water body category, Júcar hydrographic demarcation, with good water status.

Location

Oliva, province of Valencia, Valencian Community, Spain. The beach is situated within the municipality of Oliva. Parking is available. Access roads to the beach exist within the municipality.

Facilities

Lifeguards and rescue services available. Free public toilets. Foot washing stations. Parking available. Beach bars and refreshment kiosks. Buoys for marking. Low density of bathers during bathing season. Additional activities include rental of scooters, sunbeds, and umbrellas. No disabled access service. No accessible point service.

Season

1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as good. Monitoring is conducted weekly during the bathing season through visual inspection parameters. The bathing area is controlled by the Conselleria de Agricultura, Medio Ambiente, Cambio Climático y Desarrollo Rural. The environmental control point (PCA) is located 38 metres from the Acequia Terranova discharge point.

Risks

Direct discharge: Acequia Terranova (mixed origin, natural channel, continuous flow, high risk category, width 10-15 m, metal gates). Potential short-term contamination factors from rainfall, urban sewerage, and coastal discharges identified with low frequency and mild impact. Rivers and channels, industrial installations, port installations, and diffuse pollution all identified with low frequency and mild impact.
