Playa del Primer Muntanyar is a bathing beach located in Jávea, Alicante, in the Valencian Community. It has an irregular open configuration with a shoreline of approximately 2,075 metres and a mean width of 44 metres. The beach is composed of rock and is situated on a low-accumulation coastline without defence structures or promenade. It is bounded to the north by Playa de La Grava and to the south by Playa de El Arenal.

Lifeguards (Servicio de salvamento y socorrismo). Parking available. Bar/chiringuito. Umbrella rental and kiosk. Beach buoys for demarcation. No showers or foot-wash facilities. No public toilets. No accessible facilities for persons with disabilities. No accessible service point.

Water Quality

Water body status: Very good. Classified as excellent quality based on 2020-2023 monitoring seasons. Weekly inspections conducted during the bathing season assess visual inspection parameters and overall beach maintenance. Water quality management regulated by Royal Decree 1341/2007 transposing Directive 2006/7/CE.

Risks

Rio Gorgos discharges continuously at the northern boundary; low risk classification. Potential contamination factors evaluated as low frequency and mild effect: rainfall, urban sanitation, coastal discharges, rivers/canals, industrial installations, port installations, and diffuse pollution. No cyanobacteria detected in Valencian Community coastal waters. Phytoplankton proliferation possible but uncommon in this zone.
