Playa El Carabassí is a natural sandy beach located in the municipality of Elche in Alicante province, Valencia. The beach has a longitudinal open configuration without defence structures and features a rigid wooden promenade. It is bounded to the north by Playa Arenales del Sol and to the south by Playa La Ermita de Santa Pola. The beach experiences high bather density during the swimming season.

Located in Elche, Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain. Parking is available. The beach is accessible by vehicle and has disabled access facilities.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is based on Real Decreto 1341/2007 implementing Directive 2006/7/CE. Weekly inspections conducted during bathing season assess visual parameters, sand cleanliness, and water quality classified as Excellent, Good, Sufficient, or Insufficient. The water mass status is classified as Poor according to the Water Framework Directive assessment. Monitoring point established in 1997 at beach centre coordinates 717603, 4234915 (UTM ETRS89 zone 30).

Risks

Low frequency, mild impact from rainfall, urban sewerage, and coastal discharge. Low frequency, mild impact from rivers/canals, industrial installations, port facilities, and diffuse pollution. No direct coastal discharges or urban sewerage connections affect the beach. No cyanobacteria proliferation detected in Valencia coastal waters. Phytoplankton and jellyfish proliferations possible as natural phenomena.
