Chorrillo is a natural coastal bathing beach located in the external Cádiz Bay in Andalucía, Spain. The beach stretches 675 metres with an average width of 45 metres and features golden sand composition. Water conditions are typically calm, and the beach has a moderate occupancy level with urban development. The bathing area is situated on the Atlantic coast within the Gulf of Cádiz and is classified as a mesomareal zone with moderate wave exposure.

Water

Coastal Atlantic waters in the external Cádiz Bay. The water body is characterized by shallow bathymetry with substrates of sand, rocks, and mud. Tidal range is mesomareal (2–4 metres). Dominant current flows towards the south, south-southeast, and southeast. Wave regime is predominantly from the west with secondary waves from the southeast. Moderate wave exposure conditions.

Location

Rota, Cádiz Province, Andalucía. The beach is accessed on foot and has an adjacent maritime promenade with disabled access facilities. Parking and facilities are available through the Puerto Deportivo de Rota.

Red Cross post, lifeguards and rescue equipment, signage, maritime promenade, walkways, disabled access, toilets, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, water sports rental.

Water Quality

Water quality classification was rated as excellent for all four monitoring seasons: 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Low microbiological contamination risk of short duration (24 hours). Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation.
