Coastal maritime water body (Mar Menor). Natural origin with sandy composition and golden sand bottom. Water renewal rate less than 7 days. Micromareal tide amplitude (less than 2 metres).

Foot rinsing stations (2), toilets (1). No showers, changing rooms, or lifeguards reported.

Water Quality

Water quality was rated as excellent during 2000–2009 and remained excellent in 2010 and 2011. No significant pollution pressure identified. Toxic phytoplankton proliferation monitoring conducted in 2008 and 2009 showed practically no presence of potentially toxic cells during bathing season campaigns. No authorized discharge in the proximate area. Ecological status of the Mar Menor water body is acceptable.

Risks

Jellyfish blooms occur seasonally, with peak abundance between early spring and late summer. Toxic phytoplankton proliferation risk is null or very low, with short-duration episodes unlikely.
