Playa Fontemaior is a maritime bathing zone located in Raxó, municipality of Poio in Pontevedra province, Galicia. The beach is 86 metres long and 5 metres wide, composed of sand with tranquil water conditions and low visitor frequency. It is situated in a semi-urban setting within the Ría de Pontevedra water basin.

Maritime bathing zone in the Ría de Pontevedra basin, part of the Marín water mass. Beach dimensions: 86 metres long, 5 metres wide. Water conditions are tranquil with low visitor traffic.

Raxó, Poio municipality, Pontevedra province, Galicia, Spain. Coordinates UTM 29N: X 521040, Y 4695206.

Water Quality

The water mass is classified with poor ecological status. Microbiological monitoring shows E. coli and enterococcus concentrations tracked from 2008 to 2010. Historical classification showed minimum 2 years rated as sufficient. Adjacent shellfish production zone GAL 10/06 Ría de Pontev. Raxó/M classified as Zone B with no antecedents.

Risks

Short-duration contamination risk associated with rainfall episodes, designated with yellow alert level for precipitation intensity. No localised discharge risks identified.
