La Barraca-El Portitxol is a semi-urban beach located in the municipality of Jávea in Alicante province, Valencian Community. The beach has a closed cove configuration with a high-tide line length of 309.21 metres and average width of 9.21 metres. It is composed of rocks and sand with a beach-to-cliff topography and no coastal defence structures or promenade. The beach is bordered to the north by Cala Blanca and to the south by La Granadella.

Jávea, Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain. The beach is situated within the municipality with access available. Parking is available on-site.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent. The beach water quality is monitored weekly during the bathing season under Royal Decree 1341/2007, assessing water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness. No direct discharges to the shoreline affect water quality. The coastal water mass has a very good ecological and chemical status. Weekly inspections evaluate visual inspection parameters and overall maintenance.

Short-duration contamination risk factors identified with low frequency and mild impact: rainfall, urban sanitation, and coastal discharges. Rivers/channels, industrial installations, port installations, and diffuse pollution identified with low frequency and mild impact. No direct drainage connections or natural geographic accidents such as ravines present that would cause anomalous water quality variations during heavy rainfall.
