La Caleta is a 410-metre urban beach located in Cádiz, Andalucía, with an average width of 25 metres and golden sand composition. The beach features calm bathing conditions and experiences high occupancy. It is situated in the external Cádiz Bay area of the Atlantic Ocean, exposed to significant wave action from the west and southeast.

Water

Coastal Atlantic waters in the external Cádiz Bay. Waters are shallow with sandy substrate mixed with rocks and mud. Tidal range is mesomareal (2–4 metres). Currents are dominant towards south, south-southeast, and southeast. Wave regime is dominated by westerly winds with lesser contributions from the southeast.

Location

La Caleta is located in Cádiz municipality, Andalucía province, in the Cádiz coastal area. Access is on foot. The beach is adjacent to Puerto Deportivo Elcano.

Facilities

Red Cross lifeguard station, rescue equipment, lifeguard surveillance, signage, disabled access, toilets, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, nautical club. No nautical rental or scuba diving zone.

Season

1 June to 30 September

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Short-duration contamination risk is low and microbiological in nature. Contamination sources are diffuse land uses, built-up surfaces, and altered areas in the zone of influence.
