Los Barquicos-Cocones is a bathing water area located in Carboneras, Almería, along the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The beach is 795 metres long with an average width of 14 metres, composed of golden sand and characterized by calm bathing conditions. The area is classified as a highly modified coastal water body influenced by the presence of six ports, with high water renewal rates typical of Mediterranean coastal waters.

Mediterranean coastal water body. High renewal rate. Deep water with sandy substrate containing gravel and rocks. Micromareal range (0–2 m). Currents dominant toward the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Waves moderately exposed, dominant from east and east-northeast associated with Levante wind. Annual precipitation 200–400 mm.

Location

Carboneras, Almería, Andalucía, Spain. The beach is easily accessible on foot and by car. A sports port is located 0.5 km away in Carboneras.

Facilities

Rescue equipment, surveillance equipment, signage, disabled access, toilets, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, promenade. Red Cross post not available. Water sports rentals and nautical club not available.

Classified as Excellent for all monitoring seasons 2013–2016. Low microbiological short-duration contamination risk (24 hours). Risks assessed as low for jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae. Main diffuse pollution source is urban land use and built/altered surfaces in the influence zone.
