Las Marinicas is a 855-metre beach located in Carboneras, Almería, along the Mediterranean coast. The beach has a sandy composition with golden sand and an average width of 50 metres. It experiences calm bathing conditions and is classified as a semiurban beach with high occupancy. The beach is moderately exposed to wave action with dominant easterly winds.

Mediterranean Sea coastal waters with high renewal rates. Water body code 610037 Puerto de Carboneras. Deep waters with sandy substrate containing gravel and rocks. Microtidal range (0–2 metres). Dominant currents flow toward the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Dominant wave regime from the east and east-northeast associated with levante wind.

Location

Carboneras, Almería, Andalucía, Spain. The beach is accessible on foot and by car. A maritime promenade and walkways are present.

Facilities

Rescue equipment present. Lifeguard surveillance and signage available. Toilets, showers, and bins provided. Cleaning service in operation. Disabled access not available. No Red Cross post, nautical rental, nautical club, or scuba diving zone.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent for all four monitoring seasons: 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Microbiological pollution risk is low with a 24-hour duration. Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation.

Risks

Diffuse pollution sources from urban land use and altered surfaces. Point sources include an ENDESA thermal power plant (AL012/AL013/AL015/AL016) and a Carboneras desalination plant (AL010). Rambla del Cinto watercourse present.
