Porto Cristo is a natural sandy beach located on Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. The beach measures 220 metres in length and 22 metres in width, with a gentle slope and fine sand substrate. It experiences currents and is used recreationally by residents and tourists on a daily basis with high visitor numbers.

Water

Natural free water body measuring 220 metres long and 22 metres wide with a gentle slope. Currents are present. The water body is part of the MAMC09M3 water mass extending from Punta de Capdepera to Portocolom.

Location

Porto Cristo is located in the municipality of Manacor on the island of Mallorca, Balearic Islands. The beach has pedestrian access, vehicle access, and parking available. Disabled access is provided.

Lifeguards are available. Public walkway (paseo marítimo) is present. Disabled access is provided. Parking is available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2022–2023 is good. The 2022 annual classification was sufficient. Short-duration pollution episodes were recorded in 2019, 2020, and 2022. Identified pollution sources include occasional sewage discharges, rainfall runoff (largely mitigated by a hydrodynamic separator that retains suspended solids and oils), and boat discharges. Floating waste accumulation levels are tracked by proportion of debris collected on the Sa Punta to Cala Murada route relative to total waste collected across the Balearic Islands.

Risks

Occasional jellyfish presence. No history of phytoplankton proliferation or cyanobacteria. No rip currents or undertow recorded.
