Playa Los Pozos is a coastal bathing beach located in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain. The beach is 117 metres long and 26 metres wide, with fine white sand substrate. It is exposed to wave action and experiences calm water conditions with tidal ranges of 1–3 metres. The beach is situated within a modified marine water body and a natural coastal water body.

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on four years of analytical results for faecal contamination indicators Escherichia coli and Enterococcus intestinalis, evaluated according to Royal Decree 1341/2007. Official swimming season runs from 1 February to 30 November.

Risks

Diffuse pollution source: Puerto del Rosario. Point pollution sources: Los Pozos storm overflow relief structure, sewage outfall, main storm overflow relief structure, and port storm overflow relief structure. Watercourse: Los Pozos ravine. Short-duration microbiological contamination occurred 24–25 September 2012. Expected short-duration contamination events include stormwater discharge from heavy rainfall runoff, raw or treated urban wastewater (from pipe ruptures, sewage network failures, overflows, emergency discharges, unauthorised discharges), and accidental hydrocarbon or organic waste spills. No risk from jellyfish or sea urchins. No risk from macroalgae. Phytoplankton proliferation episodes occurred in 2004, 2010, and more intensely in 2017, involving cyanobacteria Trichodesmium.
