San Andrés is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing beach in Málaga, Andalucía, located along the Málaga coastline. The beach extends 1,565 metres in length with an average width of 50 metres and features dark sand composition. Swimming conditions feature moderate waves with a micromareal tidal range of 0–2 metres. The beach is highly occupied and fully urbanised with a promenade and walkways.

Mediterranean coastal waters. Shallow bathymetry with mud and sand substrate. Micromareal tidal range of 0–2 metres. Currents dominant towards the northeast. Moderately exposed to wave action with dominant waves from the east and east-southeast associated with Levante wind.

Location

Málaga municipality, Andalucía, Spain. The beach is accessible on foot and by car. Disabled access is available.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent for all monitoring seasons from 2013 to 2016. Short-duration microbiological contamination risk is low. Identified diffuse pollution sources include land uses, built surfaces, and altered areas in the influence zone. The Guadalmedina river is a nearby watercourse.

Low risk of jellyfish proliferation. Low risk of phytoplankton proliferation. Low risk of macroalgae proliferation.
