Malagueta is a natural Mediterranean coastal beach located in Málaga, Andalucía. The beach spans 1,050 meters in length with an average width of 45 meters and features dark sand composition. It experiences moderate wave conditions and has a high occupancy rate with semi-urban development. The beach is protected by a Red Cross lifeguard post and rescue equipment.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water body influenced by Atlantic waters. Shallow waters with mud and sand substrate. Micromareal range of 0–2 meters. Currents run predominantly toward the northeast. Wave regime is dominant from the east and east-southeast associated with levante winds. Moderately exposed to wave action. Annual total precipitation is 600–800 mm with a torrentiality index of 25–50%.

Location

Malagueta is located in Málaga municipality, Andalucía, Spain, within the Málaga coastal area. Access is available on foot or by car. A promenade and walkways provide access to the beach.

Facilities

Red Cross lifeguard post, rescue equipment, surveillance equipment, signage, promenade, walkways, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, and nautical equipment rental available. No disabled access, no toilets, no protected zone.

Water Quality

Water quality classification was Excellent for all four monitoring seasons: 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Short-duration contamination risk is assessed as low and microbiological in nature with a 24-hour duration. Risk assessment methodology follows UNE 150008 deterministic standards. Diffuse pollution sources include land uses, built surfaces, and altered areas in the zone of influence. No point pollution sources are recorded.

Risks

Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation.
