Location

San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria, Spain. The beach is near the CN-634 road. Parking is available with 50 spaces. The nearest hospital is Sierrallana in Torrelavega, approximately 30 kilometers away. Interurban bus transport is available.

Facilities

Lifeguards, toilets, showers, rubbish bins, cleaning service, access walkways, local police, Red Cross post, rescue equipment, and a sailing club are available. No disabled access facilities, blue flag status, lifeguard post telephone, underwater diving zone, maritime promenade, or umbrella and water sports rental are present.

Water Quality

Water quality classifications from 2005–2010 under Directive 76/160/CEE ranged from Good to Very Good, with ratings of Good in 2005–2008 and 2010, and Very Good in 2009. In 2011, under Directive 2006/7/CE, the classification was Insufficient. Bacterial contamination monitoring showed E. coli and enterococci levels. Chlorophyll a concentration in the estuary area is below 5 µg/l, and phytoplankton density is below 5,000,000 cells/l. Medium contamination risk is identified due to the influence of the San Vicente de la Barquera wastewater treatment plant discharge.
