Playa Troya II (Américas II) is a coastal bathing beach located in Adeje, Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Spain. The beach stretches 243 meters in length with an average width of 23.5 meters and features dark sand substrate. The water body is naturally shallow, ranging from 0 to 2 meters in depth, with tranquil waters and moderate to variable wave exposure. The beach is situated in an area with good pedestrian and vehicle access, a maritime promenade, and is monitored for water quality during the official bathing season.

Coastal water body, natural surface type. Depth: 0 to -2 meters. Tidal range: 1–3 meters. Substrate: dark sand. Wave exposure: moderate to protected. Current regime and wave patterns result in tranquil waters. Area of 243 meters length by 23.5 meters width.

Adeje municipality, Playa de Las Américas, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Good pedestrian and vehicle access available. Parking available (regular condition).

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on four-year evaluation of fecal contamination indicators (Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci) according to RD 1341/2007. The underlying coastal water body (ES70TFTV_1 - Montaña Pelada – Barranco Seco) maintains good ecological status. Cyanobacteria proliferation episodes (Trichodesmium) recorded in 2004, 2010, and intensively in 2017.

Risks

Point pollution sources: Barranco de Troya discharge outlet; Barranco de Troya relief spillway (EBAR); Hotel Tenerife – Sol discharge (EDAM); Siam Park discharge (EDAM). Watercourse: Barranco de Troya. Expected short-duration pollution events: rainwater runoff from heavy rainfall (sporadic, less than 72 hours); raw or treated wastewater from pipeline breaks, sanitation network failures, emergency overflows, or unauthorized discharges (unpredictable, less than 72 hours); brine discharge from EDAM rejection (unpredictable, less than 72 hours). No previous contamination episodes recorded in the monitoring database. No risk from jellyfish or sea urchins. No risk from macroalgae.
