Ponente Foce Torrente Letimbro is a coastal bathing area located in Savona, Liguria, Italy. The beach is predominantly sandy with an increasingly pebbly composition toward the eastern section. The area is characterized by flat terrain and is influenced by the Letimbro stream mouth. The water is classified as excellent quality based on 2008-2011 assessments.

Water

Coastal water body categorized as mountainous terrain with low stability (CWA3). Part of the Vado Ligure water body. The monitored area extends 0.956 square kilometers. The area is characterized by flat terrain adjacent to the Letimbro stream basin.

Location

Savona, Liguria, Italy. The bathing area is located along the coast near the mouth of the Letimbro stream. The responsible municipal authority is located at Corso Italia 19, Savona.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008-2011). No coastal wastewater treatment plants or Imhoff tanks are present in the area. Cyanobacterial blooms do not occur in the Ligurian Sea due to predominantly oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strains have been recorded in the past four years. Currently no specific monitoring measures or special evaluations are activated.

Risks

A river mouth (foce fluviale) constitutes the primary pollution identification factor. Short-term pollution events are being characterized through a modeling approach currently in development. Anomalous situation assessment is also under a developing modeling approach.
