Pors Garo is a bathing beach located in the commune of Trélévern within the Lannion-Trégor Communauté administrative area. The beach has a small watershed of 26 hectares with low hydrographic density, situated in an agricultural territory. The beach experiences significant seasonal population fluctuations, with notably higher visitor numbers during summer months. Water quality monitoring has been conducted since 2012 by the regional health authority (ARS), with bacteriological analyses tracking E. coli and enterococcus concentrations.

Coastal bathing beach. The associated watershed (bassin versant) measures 26 hectares with low hydrographic density. The Dourdu stream serves as a primary watercourse influencing the beach area.

Dogs are prohibited on the beach by municipal order.

Water Quality

Water quality classified according to both the 1976 and 2006 EU Bathing Water Directives. Bacteriological analyses conducted between 2012 and 2017 measured E. coli and enterococcus concentrations. Classification results and 95th percentile values tracked over four-year periods. Potential pollution sources identified include wastewater collection and treatment systems, stormwater drainage, agricultural activity, and direct sewage discharges from marine village habitations.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include dysfunctional wastewater systems, stormwater discharge, agricultural runoff, and unauthorized direct sewage discharge from residential areas. Ulva seaweed deposits have been recorded at the nearby Nantouar site between 2007 and 2016.
