Porto Garibaldi - punto A is a sandy beach of particular tourist interest located on the Emilia-Romagna coast in the Northern Coastal Area. The beach is part of a 15 km coastal stretch and is protected by 16 breakwaters approximately 100 m long, spaced 20 m apart and oriented southwest to northeast. The beach width ranges from 70 to 140 m and is in equilibrium with no significant erosion. The area has achieved Excellent water quality classification based on 2015–2018 monitoring data.

Coastal marine water in a flat alluvial plain with high stability. Beach width 70–140 m. Area extends 1.887 km along the coast.

Location

Porto Garibaldi, Comacchio municipality, Ferrara province, Emilia-Romagna region. Coordinates: 12.2425°E, 44.6914°N. The beach is located between Sacca di Goro to the north and Porto Canale di Porto Garibaldi to the south.

Facilities

Three beach establishments present with first aid services, toilets accessible to disabled persons, hot showers, absence of architectural barriers, sports facilities, and refreshment points.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2015–2018 reference years). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 16 CFU/100 ml; Escherichia coli (95th percentile): 17 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci (90th percentile): 15 CFU/100 ml; Intestinal enterococci (95th percentile): 16 CFU/100 ml. No direct discharges or watercourses flow into the bathing water area.

Risks

Macroalgae proliferation (genus Ulva) occurred July–August 2018 in the north-central coastal section, causing modifications to beach use during biomass accumulation phase. No cyanobacterial phenomena or phytoplankton toxicity events recorded during 2015–2018. No short-duration pollution events recorded during 2015–2018 bathing seasons.
