Léry-Poses is a regional recreational water sports and leisure base containing two bathing zones: Plage du Lagon and Plage de la Capoulade. The bathing water profile study was conducted to identify potential pollution sources affecting the lake and to comply with European bathing water quality directives. Water quality analysis concluded that both bathing zones are generally of good quality, though a pollution episode in 2008 caused a temporary downgrade.

Water

Gravel pit lake (lac des Deux-Amants) fed by alluvial and chalk aquifers, surface runoff, and occasional exceptional flooding from the Seine and Eure. The lake receives water from multiple sources including connected water bodies and the wider watershed.

Location

Léry-Poses is located in the Haute-Normandie region, straddling the communes of Léry and Val de Reuil in the Eure and Seine-Maritime departments, bounded by the Seine and Eure rivers.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as good according to 1976 directive standards for both Lagon and Capoulade beaches. A pollution episode in 2008 resulted in temporary degradation. Identified pollution sources include agricultural runoff, fecal contamination from human and animal activity, bacterial germs and viruses, sanitation system malfunctions, hydrocarbon and pesticide pollution from road and rail runoff, motor vehicle emissions, and internal lake processes.
