Pouldu le Prat is a bathing beach located in Santec, Finistère, in Brittany. The beach is one of three bathing waters declared by the municipality of Santec. Coastal bathing water in a marine environment. Subject to tidal currents and wind-influenced conditions with variable wave patterns.

Location

Santec, Finistère (29), Brittany. Municipality contact: Mairie de SANTEC, 71 Place Isidore Roudaut, 29250 SANTEC. The beach has central, west, and east access points with signage.

Lifeguard service available. Signage present at central, west, and east access points. Equipment and activities available around the bathing zone.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored annually by the Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS). Bacteriological monitoring tracks enterococci and E. coli concentrations. Monitoring data from 2011-2021 shows variation in contamination levels with seasonal and rainfall-dependent patterns.

Risks

Potential bacterial contamination from multiple sources including surface runoff, stormwater outfalls, pumping station overflows, agricultural activities, and mooring zones. Sensitivity to green algae (ulva) blooms identified. Short-term pollution events possible following rainfall.
