Praia da Foz sits at the mouth of a river along a stretch of coastline reached by a steep access road with parking available nearby. The shore consists of coarse, rocky sand and features exposed rock formations at the northern end suited to climbing, while the open water often carries seaweed and produces rough surf with large waves. Fossils can be found embedded in the shoreline rocks.
