Bicas is a long sandy beach surrounded by cliffs with fossilized dunes in Sesimbra. The beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts for surfing and bodyboarding. It is situated in an area of natural beauty.

Season

June 10th to September 12th, 2021. Sampling frequency is triweekly.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2020 under Decreto-Lei 135/09. No history of short-term pollution events (less than 72 hours). No significant microbiological pollution sources identified in the area of influence.

Risks

Potential for cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation is unlikely. Warning signs will be posted if bathing becomes a risk.
