Location

Ponza, Latina Province, Lazio Region, Italy. The bathing area extends for 1,326 metres.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated. One active urban wastewater treatment plant (>2,000 population equivalent) operates in the reference municipality. No specific monitoring programmes for pollutant concentration are currently active during the bathing season. Mollusk farming has been identified as a source of impact on bathing water.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events are still under study regarding an adequate modelling approach. No cyanobacterial or macroalgal proliferation events have been reported.
